Water Polo has been a part of the Summer Olympics since the 1900 Paris Games. It is a team sport played in a pool, with two teams of seven players each trying to score goals by throwing a ball into the opposing team's net. The games consist of four eight-minute quarters, with a five-minute halftime break. The sport has traditionally been dominated by European teams, particularly Hungary, Italy, and Serbia. The United States has also had success, winning the gold medal in both men's and women's tournaments. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the Serbian men and the United States women won gold.
