Terms and Rules for Sport Climbing
Sport Climbing is a new Olympic sport that will debut at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. The competition consists of three disciplines: speed climbing, bouldering, and lead climbing. In speed climbing, two climbers race up a 15-meter wall with standardized holds. The fastest time wins. In bouldering, climbers attempt to complete a set of four to five short routes on a 4-meter wall within a fixed time limit. In lead climbing, athletes climb as high as they can on a 15-meter wall within a fixed time limit. The winner is determined by the highest point reached. Athletes are given points for each discipline, and the athlete with the lowest combined score wins.
